Lubyanka and Gulag Tour (Every Thursday from 2:00 pm - to 4:30 pm)
The Lubyanka is the popular name for the headquarters of the former KGB and other security services of the Soviet Union. It now is the home of the FSB, Russia’s Federal Security Serviсe.
The Lubyanka is the location of a Monument to Victims of Soviet Repressions called the Solovetsky Stone. The lives of millions of people ended during KGB imprisonment. The main branch of the State Security operated the penal system of forced labor camps and associated detention and transit camps and prisons, called a Gulag system. While these camps housed criminals of all types, the Gulag system has become primarily known as a place for political prisoners and as a mechanism for repressing political opposition to the Soviet state.
Along with a walk in Lubyanka area you will visit the Museum of Gulag which introduces the GULAG system and the history of Stalin's mass repression throughout the USSR.
